The tree-uprooting storm, however, caused power outages in several areas and flooding at some low-lying parts, while schools and several private businesses and public offices remained shuttered for the second day.
The hurricane had subsided into a storm by Tuesday morning, officials said.
A spokesman for the Pakistani embassy in Washington said the embassy in close coordination with our Consulate General in New York took a number of steps to stay in touch with expatriate Pakistanis and members of Pakistani diaspora in the affected States.
