Queens Park Rangers’ Malaysian owner Tony Fernandes has branded reports that manager Mark Hughes has been given one game to save his job as “rubbish”.
QPR’s 1-0 loss at Arsenal on Saturday left them rooted to the foot of the Premier League table and prompted speculation that Hughes could be shown the door if his side do not win at home to Reading this weekend.
Fernandes, however, took to Twitter on Monday to dismiss the reports and state that the club’s management are firmly behind Hughes.
“Mark has my backing and the shareholders,” Fernandes said.
“We need a little luck and no injuries. What’s written in the press is all rubbish. I honestly believe we have one of the best managers in the premier league. And we are in for the long term. Whatever happens. We love QPR.
