Extortion makes its way to Rawalpindi

A rising trend of extortion has been observed in Rawalpindi, as traders regularly received ‘notes’ from extortionists, while many businessmen had already been looted by them.
Sources said that traders had been receiving telephone calls demanding extortion money. They threatened shopkeepers with serious consequences in case they failed to pay up or if they informed the police.
When businessmen informed the police about the situation, instead of taking action to resolve the matter, the police asked them to employ security guards.
