Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that at least 3.1 million flood displaced people hailing from seven districts of the province had been rehabilitated in a systematic manner.
The CM paid a visit to a relief camp set up in Rato Dero, Larkana. He said that the province had been facing the wrath of natural calamities for past several years and underscored that after 2011 monsoons; nine million citizens were rehabilitated by the provincial government. The CM toured the camp immediately after offering Eid prayers in Garhi Khudabaksh Bhutto. He assured the victims that higher echelons of the government were with them and would assist them in all their troubles. He said that special task forces had been commissioned to avert outbreak of any viral or epidemics in the flooded zones.
The CM had arranged a concert for the residents of the camp to redden their otherwise pale Eid.
‘PPP and its allies thwarted moves to derail democracy’: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its coalition partners, with the support of masses, had successfully thwarted nefarious designs to derail democracy in the country said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, at Garhi Khuda Baksh Bhutto (Larkana) on Saturday. Talking to journalists after offering Eid prayers, the chief minister said the democratic government would complete its tenure in 2013, despite conspiracies hatched against it by anti-democratic forces. The government, which enjoyed public support, had resisted these forces and it was after a long time that democracy had taken roots in the country, he added. Earlier, Shah along with his cabinet members Aga Siraj Durrani and Ayaz Soomro and hundreds others offered Eid prayers. On the occasion, special prayers were made for the progress and well being of the country and the people. Shah also visited the graves of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto where he and his colleagues offered Fateha and laid wreaths on the graves.
Qaim offers Eid prayer at Ghari Khuda Bux Bhutto: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers in front of Mausoleum of Martyrs of Bhutto family at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, along with provincial ministers, advisors, PPP leaders, workers and local residents. After prayers, the chief minister exchanged Eid greetings with ministers, advisors and all persons present at Eidgah of Ghari Khuda Bux Bhutto.
Provincial ministers Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Agha Siraj Durrani, MNAs Aftab Shahbaan Mirani and Shahid Hussain Bhutto, Ghulamullah Mahoto, Khair Muhammad Shaikh, Abdul Fateh Bhutto, Aijaz Leghari, Police Larkana Range DIG Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, Commissioner Dr Saeed Ahmed Magnejo, SSP Javed Sunharoo and Larkana DC Assadullah Abro were also present on the occasion.
