President, PM ask nation to promote unity, religious tolerance to counter terrorism

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf have asked the nation to work for the prosperity of the country while adopting the spirit of sacrifice, brotherhood, tolerance and renouncing hatred and prejudice. In their separate messages on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Azha, they said, “It is a great benevolence of Allah that with His graciousness and kindness we are having another opportunity to celebrate Eidul Azha.” The president said, “On this occasion of Eidul Azha, we should remember the sacrifices of the people rendered in the war against terrorism, to defend the country.” The president said the country was facing the challenges of terrorism, extremism, and sectarianism and there was a need to inculcate unity, brotherhood, will for sacrifice, religious tolerance and high qualities to face these challenges. In his message, Prime Minister Ashraf said the philosophy of sacrifice was to inculcate the feelings of sacrifice and amity and encourage efforts being done for brotherhood and welfare of society.
“We are making all-out efforts for the promotion of consensus and harmony among people. With our farsightedness and realism, we are working to serve the people. Collective good and welfare of people is the clear objective of our government.”
