LHC has finally given its judgment on Kalabagh dam in which the LHC says that it is important to make reservoirs. ANP wastes no time to issue a bombastic statement that Kalabagh dam will be opposed ‘till last breath’. Let me not waste space here that KD is the only solution to saving our country from becoming a total wasteland and there cannot be two opinions about this situation. KD is a national project with far reaching benefits to all parts of the country, including KPK and Sindh.
The arguments coming in from people are that three of the four provincial assemblies have passed resolutions against its construction. I do not want to be rude but I ask which members of these assemblies have done this? We all know beyond any doubt those members of the assemblies, especially provincial, are a handful of few moneyed people with least competence. They have to engage dress designers to even to even learn to wear decent clothes so how can they adjudge this crucial national issue? ANP is so deadly against KD. They have a few members in KPK PA representing few million people. How can the will of these three or four percent of 190 million people prevail upon a decision of such strategic importance? ANP is ANP because of their alliance with PPP in the federation.
In the past four plus years their height has grown up a few inches due to their blackmailing technique to keep PPP in Islamabad. They are booed in Karachi by MQM. ANP’s opposition cannot stop us from making KD. Pakistan is using 13 percent of water flowing down to sea. Pakistan will soon be enlisted in waterless countries of the world list with Ethopia, Somalia and Sudan. Power supply shortage is a perpetual feature, thanks to Dr Babar Awan for sitting on Chicho Ki Malian and Nandipur hydel station files. If we continue to ignore KD more, I won’t be wrong in saying that we are digging our grave. As such the KD project cost has gone way higher than our first estimates. Can we delay it any further?
