A senator from the Awami National Party (ANP) on Friday advised the Lahore High Court (LHC) to abstain from giving controversial statements. Addressing a press conference here, ANP Provincial President Afrasiyab Khattak said that the remarks made by the LHC about the construction of Kalabagh Dam could fuel tension among smaller provinces. On Thursday, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial had said that the objections raised by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces over the construction of Kalabagh Dam were political, adding that such objections could only be addressed through dialogue. “The judiciary would also become controversial by getting involved in controversial issues,” Khattak said, adding that the reservoir was one province’s attempt to “occupy” Indus River.
