Senior leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) reportedly advised President Asif Ali Zardari to quit his political office and the deliberations in this connection are underway at high level.
A private TV channel quoting sources on Thursday said, the senior party leaders, keeping in view the Asghar Khan case verdict and an order by Lahore High Court (LHC) to President Zardari to quit the political office, counseled him to jettison the office of co-chairmanship of the party. According to sources, the president began mulling over the advice.
The sources noted that a final decision in this regard will be made by President Zardari himself and any such decision is expected in the second week of November.
In case of his relinquishing the office, President Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur will be a strong candidate for the office.
