Regional Transport Authority Secretary had set up special teams to initiate action against owners and drivers of public transport, who overcharged commuters on the eve of Eid ul Azha. The teams had been established under the directives of Punjab government, and have started operations. The RTA secretary had directed teams to take stern action against transporters as soon as any complaints from commuters were received. A team led by a motor vehicle examiner visited the general bus stand at Pir Wadhai and issued a warning to 150 transporters, and told them to return the amount of fare overcharged from 50 commuters. He also warned transporters that their vehicles would be impounded if any complaints of fleecing commuters, through overcharging, were received.
