Mayo Hospital doctors given extra charge on Eid

In the light of directions issued by Punjab Health Department, duties of doctors and staff have been assigned in the Mayo Hospital in order to ensure 24 hours availability of medical facilities to the patients during Eid-ul-Azha holidays. An emergency plan has been chalked out in this regard.
Medical Superintendent Mayo Hospital Dr Zahid Pervaiz said senior doctors and staff have been deputed in 3 shifts beginning from 8 am to 3 pm, from 3 pm to 10 pm night and from 10 pm to 8 in the morning. Furthermore, senior administrative doctors would also remain on duty. He said emergency duty roaster, and emergency crisis management plan has been displayed at the offices of director emergency and DMS (Admn).
He said in order to meet any emergency situation, Emergency Department has been further augmented with 20 additional beds, whereas, life-saving drugs, vaccines, disposables items have been made available in sufficient quantity in the stock of emergency ward. He said, during the Eid holidays, arrangements have been made to keep bio-medical instruments, machines and patients lifts operational. They have been directed to keep generators functional as an alternate source of electricity in case of interruption. He said all operation theatres in emergency would remain open and in case of need indoor operation theatres would also be kept at stand by functional. He said during the Eid holidays, ambulances along with trained staff of the hospital would be ready to help the people in case of any eventuality.
Dr Zahid added that sufficient stock of blood of all groups have been made available at the blood bank and donors lists have also been made available, in order to provide timely help to the patients in case of any emergency situation.
