Islamabad Police established a cyber crime unit to deal with cyber and electronic crimes effectively.
This unit had been established following directions from the Inspector General of Islamabad Police Bani Amin Khan under the supervision of DIG Headquarters while AIG Operations and Director-IT would also help ensure its smooth functioning.
According to police sources, this unit would perform as a specialized unit of Islamabad Police to deal with all crimes/investigations related to technology.
It would be responsible for exclusively assisting investigating officers in cyber/electronic crimes committed through email, social network or any mean of electronic/ website defacement.
This unit would also be responsible for forensics of digital evidence and its confidentiality. This specialized unit would be interconnected to CID, Special Branch and Operational departments of Islamabad Police.
