The 19th National Master Trainers’ Faculty Professional Development Program (MT-FPDP) organised by the Learning Innovation Division, Higher Education Commission (HEC) concluded at the HEC secretariat, Islamabad. About 27 faculty members from 24 public and private sector universities across Pakistan received certification as Master Trainers.
Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Education and Training Abdul Nabi Bangash was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the program. HEC Chairperson Prof Dr Javaid Laghari and Executive Director Dr S Sohail Naqvi were also present on the occasion.
The MT-FPDP is an eight week in-service orientation program, particularly designed to equip the teaching faculty with the latest research and pedagogical skills required for effective teaching. The program included an arduous exercise, with 13 core modules and additional sessions on different important social topics. Recreational and study trips were also arranged to different historic places.
The main objective of the intensive training was to enhance and enrich abilities of teachers, to ensure quality education which was entirely dependent on the quality of teachers.
The programme catered to participants of both pure and social sciences therefore the outcome was multi variant.
The MT-FPDP also aimed to enable university teachers to use innovative teaching strategies and communication skills that would blend academic concepts with workplace applications.
The Laghari took a professional oath from participants who vowed to the Almighty that they would stick to professional honesty, moral and ethical values and keep learning and imparting knowledge with full devotion.
Noor Amna Malik presented an overview and briefed the audience about the objectives of the programme. She said that so far 551 members from different HEIs had benefited from the course in 19 batches.
Sohail said that without the professional development of faculty, the quality of teaching and research could not be improved in universities.
Bangash lauded the efforts of HEC for its revolutionary reforms in the higher education sector of Pakistan.
He congratulated participants on the successful completion of the faculty professional development program and said that they would further impart training to other teachers in their respective institutions. He also distributed certificates among participants.
