Water and Power Secretary Nargis Sethi has directed all DISCOs to maximise efforts to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Eidul Azha prayers in mosques across the country.
This direction was given by the water and power secretary in a teleconference on Wednesday, attended by CEOs of all DICSOs and officials of the ministry.
She also directed the officials to ensure proper placement of duties of the maintenance staff by all DICSOs during Eid holidays to provide immediate relief to all people in case of an emergency situation.
Nargis also ordered that the public be provided all kinds of information and telephone numbers of the maintenance staff.
All the CEOs were directed to minimise load shedding with efficient utilisation of the available power capacity and improve implementation of the plan during the Eid holidays.
During the teleconference, it was decided that a teleconference would be held on the eve of Eid with DISCOs to effectively monitor implementation of the Eid plan.
It was also decided that all power distribution companies, their field offices and the concerned department at the Ministry of Water and Power would remain open during the Eid holidays with the required personnel to facilitate the public. The water and power secretary will personally supervise the operations during Eid holidays.
The overall generation capacity and distribution situation was discussed in details during the teleconference. Actual availability of electricity to all DICSOs was also reviewed during the conference.
Nargis said the current initiative of recoveries of dues would further improve the power situation in the country. She urged all DICSOs to intensify their recoveries drive indiscriminately.
She also appealed to the consumers to pay their bills on time so that the Ministry of Water and Power is encouraged to serve them in an efficient and transparent manner.
