Lahore in control of Provincial Level

Lahore Division came from behind to take the Provincial Level honours of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 here on Wednesday.
Just yesterday, Lahore and Faisalabad were in close contest but on the day Lahore with win in majority of the events maintained its supremacy in several of the sports events.
As the sixth and final level of the festival in which all the nine divisions of the province are taking part is near conclusion, the participants are showing great talent and skills in their field of contests.
In non-sporting competitions held at Expo Centre, the students of different colleges and universities put on display their work to surprise the visitors and guests with their abilities. Education Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehamn was the chief guest of the IT and Engineering Exhibition at Hall no 2 of Expo Centre.
In the sports events, hockey of school girls Faisalabad and Gujranwala qualified for the final. Faisalabad beat Bahawalpur 2-1 and the match was decided on penalty strokes after the teams played a goal less match. In the second match, Gujranwala defeated Lahore by two goals. This match was also decided on penalty strokes and Lahore failed to get a single goal.
In inter-collegiate competitions, Lahore will take on Faisalabad in the final. Faisalabad beat Multan 4-0 while Lahore moved past Bahawalpur 5-0.
In table tennis boys, Lahore had win over Sahiwal 3-1 and later Faisalabad beat Lahore 3-0. Similarly in university level, Lahore beta Sargodha 3-0 and in schools boys category, Faisalabad defeated Rawalpindi 2-0.
In powerlifting 65 kgs class, Mohamamd Arslan of Gujranwala was winner, in 77 kgs class, Lahore’s Salman Aqeel Butt took the title and in 94 kgs, Jabbar Gulzar of Rawalpindi reached the top.
Lahore division won the boxing trophy. In the finals of 55 kgs weight class,:Ali Ahmed of Lahore beat Naveed ullah of Sargodha in a very closely-contested bout. In 65 kgs, Lahore’s Abdul Aman knocked out Mohammed Asif Mughal of Gujranwala in the first round and in 75 kgs, Mohammed Imran of Faisalabad defeated Aftab of Multan.
In kabaddi final competitions, Government High School Salarwala Faisalabad won first position while Government high school Pattoki obtained second position. At college level, Punjab College of Commerce Lahore was the winner, Punjab College of Commerce Gujranwala attained second position. At university level, University of Central Punjab Lahore secured first whereas Bahauddin Zikriya University Multan maintained second position and in general public, Faisalabad bagged first position while Lahore got second position.
