Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan on Tuesday said that despite wars between Pakistan and India, the issues are still unresolved and that continuous peace talks are important for the region of South Asia.
Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Hamdard School System in honour of a 27-member Indian Scouts delegation, he said that despite having nuclear capabilities, both the countries are facing poverty and illiteracy.
He said that India and Pakistan should benefit from the experiences of each other so that the illiteracy and poverty could be eliminated. He added that both the countries should respect sovereignty and geographical boundaries of each other.
Moreover, he said that Quaid-e-Azam had also pointed out that the foreign policy of Pakistan should based on friendship with all and enmity towards no one. He said that Pakistan and India are neighbouring countries and while friends and enemies can change, neighbours remain the same.
He informed that the chief ministers of three provinces of India will visit Pakistan on November 5 to participate in Punjab Youth Festival. He said that Youth Festival is playing an important role in promoting friendship between Pakistan and India.
