Punjab Youth Festival 2012: Faisalabad dominate athletics events

Faisalabad was dominating the athletics competition of the Provincial Level of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 here on Monday. In the school competition, Faisalabad swept the entire activity being held at the Punjab Stadium.
In school level, Faisalabad bagged first position with 120 points, Lahore got second securing 38 points and Sahiwal remained third with 31 points.
Javeria Kiran (Faisalabad) achieved first position in 100 m, Turab Zahra of Sahiwal was second. In 200 m, Javeria of Faisalabad got first while Turab Zahra of Sahiwal was second.
In 400 m, Sahbe Asra of Faislabad attained first position whereas Sadaf Rasheed of Lahore was second. In 800 m, Sahbe Asra of Faisalabad maintained first position and Zainab Khan of Rawalpindi was second.In 1500 m, Sahbe Asra of Faisalabad again achieved first position and Asya Munawar of Gujranwala maintained second position.
In the long jump, Javeria of Faisalabad was frist, Sofia Bibi of Sargodha was second. In shot put, Faisalabad’s Amna Ashiq was declared first and Javeria of Multan was second. In javelin throw, Faisalabad’s Amna Ashiq achieved first, Maham Faqeer Ali of Lahore was second.
In college girls category athletics events, 100 m and 200 m title went to Saima Shehzad of Faisalabad and Humeza Butt of Gujranwala was second. In 400 m, Rukhsana Shehzad of Lahore got first position, Nusrat of DG Khan achieved second position. In 800 m, Atiya Sultana of Faisalabad got first whereas Maryam Fatima of Multan second. In 1500 m, Asma Ghafoor of Sahiwal was winner, Nusrat Shabana of DG Khan was second.
In the long jump, Faisalabad’s Saima Shehzad reached the top, Sameera of Multan was second. In shot put, Sadia of Lahore was declared first while Hira of Sahiwal maintained second position. In Javelin throw, Sadia of Lahore got first position, Salma of Sahiwal achieved second position. In the overall results, Faisalabad led with 85, Lahore 59 and Gujranwala got 53 points.
In University girls athletics events, 100 m and 200 m, Lahore’s Sehrish was first while Sargodha’s Amira attained second position. In 400 m, Nighat of Lahore was first and Amira of Sargodha maintained second position. In 800 m, Fariha Batool of Sargodha was declared first whereas Bisma of Lahore achieved second position. In 1500 m, Ferhat of Sargodha bagged first and Aliya Riaz of Lahore got second position. In long jump, Lahore’s Nighat was first, Rizwana Ijaz of DG Khan was second. In Shotput Aliya of Lahore was first and Rabiya of Faisalabad maintained second position. In overall results, Lahore bagged 105, Sargodha was second with 64 points and Bahawalpur maintained third position with 29 points.
In the weightlifting championship at provincial level, 62 kg, Ahmed Mahmood of Punjab college Faisalabad achieved first position with 10 points. Haider Ashfaq of Punjab college Lahore secured second with 7 points while Furqan Butt of Government university was declared third with 5 points. In 75 kg, Salman Aqeel Butt of Punjab college attained first position and 10 score. Sufian from Punjab college was second with 7 points whereas Shabh haider of Multan college secured third position with 5 points. In 94 kg category, Zaigham Zafar of Punjab college bagged first, Hassam of Punjab college Gujranwala secured second and Ali Raja of Faisalabad achieved third position. In the overall results, Lahore secured first position with 27 points, Faisalabad with 15 points attained second while Gujranwala with 14 points achieved third position.
In Billiard Snooker, at General public level, M. Ghaffar of Gujranwala bagged first position, Lahore’s Najeeb Khalid was second while DG Khan’s M. Sharif attained third position. At the college level, Sannan Saeed of Sargodha attained first, DG Khan’s Tahir Abbas achieved second and Sahiwal’s Shakeel Ahmed managed third positions. At university level, Sargodha’s Murtaza Afzal was first, Gujranwala’s Junaid Zafar was second and Sahiwal’s Adnan Tahir achieved third position. In the Volleyball General public tournaments, Sahiwal beat Sargodha 2-0. At university level (male) Faisalabad beat Sargodha 2-0. At college level (male), Gujranwala defeated DG Khan 2-0. At school level (male), Sahiwal defeated Gujranwala 2-0.
In boxing 65 kg, Asif Mughal of MUlatn beat Sargodha’s Malik Sharif, Asim Mughal of Gujranwala defeated Imran DG Khan. In 75 plus kg, Lahore’s Waqar Ahmed got walk over. Mohammad Irfan of Faisalabad knock out Mohammad Imran Sahiowal, Aftab Khan Multan beat Saud Khan of Gujranwala and Shahid Sargodha beat Amer Ahmed Rawalpindi. The semi-final of the events will be held today. In women hockey colleges, DG Khan got walk over against Sargodha, Faisalabad beat Rawalpindi 7-0, Bahawalpur walk over against Sahiwal. The fourth match was decided in favour of Multan against Gujranwala 2-1. The university level will start today.
