The first death anniversary of Begum Nusrat Bhutto was observed on Tuesday. Quran Khawani was held at her mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bukhsh and other places. A special prayer ceremony was also held at the Presidency.
President Asif Ali Zardari and a number of federal ministers and parliamentarians attended the ceremony.
Addressing a gathering in Garhi Khuda Bukhah‚ Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said Nusrat Bhutto’s services for strengthening democracy would be remembered for long.
Shah laid floral wreaths at the grave of Nusrat Bhutto and graves of other members of Bhutto family.
A delegation of the MQM, led by Sindh Minister Abdul Hafeez Khan, also laid floral wreath at Nusrat Bhutto’s grave.
In Punjab‚ prayers were held at the Governor’s House in Lahore. The executive body of the PPP Punjab also offered fateha for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Speaking at a seminar in Muzaffarabad‚ AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majid said the Bhutto family had rendered valuable sacrifices for the uplift‚ prosperity and progress of the nation and country.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ Quran Khawani was held at the PPP’s Secretariat in Peshawar.
