Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khwaja Muhammad Asif said on Tuesday that his party completely accepted the Supreme Court’s verdict on Asghar Khan case, and that it was not calling for a new commission to probe disbursement of funds among politicians in the 1990 elections.
Reacting to a statement by National Assembly Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan that the PML-N accepted the SC’s verdict but did not trust the probe carried out by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Asif said the statement given by Nisar reflected his personal view, and not party’s policy. He said the PML-N fully accepts the verdict as well as the probe carried out in lieu of the petition filed in 1996 by Air Marshal (r) Asghar Khan against doling out of funds by secret agencies to influence the 1990 polls.
