Malik signals suspension of mobile phone services on Eid

Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday said that mobile phone services could be suspended in some cities on the occasion of Eid ul Adha for a short period if required.
Speaking to reporters here, he said that effective measures would be taken to protect the major Eid congregations.
He urged the media to play a role in curbing the militancy.
To a question, Malik said that nobody would be allowed to collect hides of sacrificial animals by force. No leniency would be shown toward bhatta, parchi and khal mafia, he added.
He said that banned groups won’t be permitted to collect animal skins.
He claimed that law and order situation was improving in Karachi.
Responding to another question, the interior minister said Shahbaz Sharif has a good voice and that Punjab Chief Minister sings well.
He said that his government respects every decision of the Supreme Court, adding that Nawaz Sharif should quit politics after the Asghar Khan case ruling.
