The Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned the hearing of Kala Bagh Dam construction case till Wednesday.
A single member bench of LHC comprising Chief Justice Umer Atta Bandial Tuesday heard the petition filed regarding importance and construction of Kala Bagh Dam.
The lawyer of the petitioner Shumail Ahmed told the court that keeping in view the energy situation and availability of water for agricultural purposes, it should immediately issue directives to start the development work on Kala Bagh Dam.
The court questioned the lawyers if the court under the constitution of the country was mandated to issue directives for start of work on any development project.
The lawyer argued that constitution has given right to courts to give orders for initiating work on any project relating to public interests.
The LHC asked the lawyer to continue arguments in the case and adjourned the hearing till Wednesday.
