Sindh minister ‘sitting’ on 140 acres of Railway land

National Assembly’s sub-committee on Railway expressed annoyance over the non-initiation of action against those involved in stealing and selling railway scrap, and uprooting a 27-kilometer railway track in Shahdad Kot. The committee met on Monday under its convener Ramesh Lal in the Ministry of Railway. Senior officials of railway and members of the committee attended the meeting. The committee reviewed the matter of railway land allotment in Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Kanmbar and Shahdad Kot. They directed DS Sukkur to take responsibility for the railway scrap theft case and ensure the recovery of stolen scrap, and see that the accused persons were brought to justice. DS Sukkur Sardar Ahmad Sheikh told the committee that the provincial minister Nadir Magsi had occupied 140 acres land belonging to the railway and the Chandio family had occupied 106 acres of land.
