An explosive is thrown onto the field whilst an Anorthosis player is treated for an injury during a match with rivals Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus on Sunday. The explosion left the injured Anorthosis player and two members of the club’s medical staff lying prone and clutching their faces after the object exploded after being thrown from the section of the stadium containing the travelling Omonia Nicosia fans. Several other players and officials were sent scattering by the blast which occured in the second half of the Cypriot First Division match. The shocking incident halted play for around 10 minutes as those hurt required treatment. Fortunately no-one was seriously injured. There were no initial reports of any arrests.
