Three people were killed in incidents of violence and firing in Karachi, whereas rangers and police arrested six people during different targeted operations.
One person was killed and another injured when unknown gunmen opened fire in Karachi’s Surjani Town area. The injured person and the dead body were shifted to the Civil Hospital where angry protesters caused a commotion. Additional police was deployed at the hospital to secure the premises.
In a separate incident in Kharadar, firing by unknown gunmen critically injured a man. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital where he died during treatment.
Meanwhile, a body was recovered in a gunny bag from Karachi’s Nazimabad No 2 area. Rangers arrested three people during operations conducted in Yousuf Goth and Nazimabad areas of the city and claimed to have recovered weapons and drugs from them.
In another operation, police arrested two suspected dacoits in Saeedabad area and recovered weapons and stolen mobile phones from them.
Police also arrested an alleged extortionist in a separate operation in the Ayub Goth area of Karachi.
Two killed, 4 injured in city road mishaps: Two persons died and four others were injured in separate road accidents in different localities of the city on Monday.
According to details, an accident took place in Liaquatabad area where a reckless driven car hit a motorcycle, killing one person on the spot while injuring the other. The dead body and the injured motorcyclist were shifted to a hospital where according to the hospital sources the injured person was in a critical condition.
In yet another incident in the Sukkhan area of Karachi, a reckless driven goods laden truck rammed into four persons standing by the roadside and critically injured them. The truck driver managed to flee from the scene after the accident. The rescue personnel shifted the injured to a local hospital where one person succumbed to his wounds while the condition of others was also stated to be serious.
Pistol recovered from passenger : A passenger was arrested at the Karachi airport for carrying a weapon in his handbag. According to Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) sources, a passenger on board an Islamabad bound flight was carrying a pistol in his hand carry luggage. Upon checking, the ANF authorities recovered a pistol from his handbag. The passenger was arrested and was being further interrogated by security officials.
