A delegation of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) and the Hyderabad Bar Association (HBA) called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday at Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry.
The delegation led by President KBA Mahmood-ul-Hassan and Qazi Abdul Sattar, a senior advocate, discussed with the Chief Justice, issues and matters of interest to the legal fraternity.
They assured the CJP of their full support and cooperation and expressed the hope that the administration of justice needs his (CJP) bold leadership and motivation to deliver justice to the public at large.
They said that public had reposed great confidence in the judiciary. The delegation informed his lordship that the movement for rule of law, supremacy of the constitution and independence of judiciary instilled a new spirit and provided a common platform to lawyers to cooperate with one another for larger good of the society. Talking to the delegation, the chief justice of Pakistan admired the role of legal fraternity in Lawyers’ Movement in which they stood firm and struggled hard to bring rule of law in the society through peaceful efforts. He added the movement was supported by the civil society because it was the struggle for the principles. The members of the bars also appreciated his lordship’s struggle and efforts during the lawyers’ movement and informed about their struggle and sacrifice during that period.
