The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has chalked out a comprehensive plan to get over 215 MGD (million gallons daily) of water from different sources to overcome water scarcity in the capital, according to a document submitted before the parliament.
According to the document, the CDA would construct 15 MGD capacity Charah Dam that would provide 7.5 MGD water to Rawalpindi, which would amount to 50 percent of water provided from the dam. The construction of the dam would be completed in four years.
Moreover, a pipeline was also being laid to get 200 MGD water from Tarbela dam.
Moreover, 75 percent work had been completed to ensure the supply of water to thirteen sectors of the city.
