The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to resume the construction work on the roads in Sector I-11 which was halted due to the problems in getting possession of the land even after a lapse of three months.
According to sources, the contract for the road construction work in sectors I-11/1 and 2 was awarded in October 2011 at a cost of Rs. 180 million and it was to be completed in 18 months, but the work was halted three months ago due to problems in getting the acquisition of the land. The CDA’s Land Department and Enforcement Department were putting the blame of failure on each other, the sources revealed.
The sources told agencies that an Afghan refugees’ settlement in sector I-11/1 was not only hindering the development work in the sector but was also posing a grave security risk in the area. The authorities concerned, including the CDA and the interior ministry were not paying any heed to the problem, the sources added.
The allottees had expressed concerns on the situation as they were allotted plots of land in the sector in 1992, but they could not get possession of their plots owing to the many problems including the Afghan settlements and lack of development work.
The allottees appealed to the Interior Minister, A. Rehman Malik to shift the Afghan settlement to another locality and demanded of the CDA Chairman, Syed Tahir Shahbaz to resume development work in the sector.

There is a big issue for CDA, ICT, Police and other agencies to get rid of from encrochers and others who are residing illegally in Sector I-11/1 Islamabad.
It is due to lack of interest by CDA, ICT, Interior Ministry and other agencies to get rid of mafia adopted new shape as encrochers and others who ever residing illegally in Sector I-11/1 Islamabad. Capital city can be more secured if these encrohments are removed with the sincer efforts by the concern authoities.
