Shujaat, Elahi offered huge sum of money in 90’s polls: Shujaat

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said he and Deputy Prime Minister Pervaiz Elahi were offered a heavy amount of money in the 1990 elections; however, they spurned the offer.
Talking to media after a meeting with a delegation of European Union at his residence, he noted the impression is not correct that the delaying tactics are being employed in the elections, adding the elections will be convened at their appointed time.
“The Supreme Court’s ruling regarding the Asghar Khan case should be implemented without fail,” he asserted.
Speaking on the occasion, Q-League Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the scam regarding who took how much money in the run up to 1990 elections, should be brought to the fore
Deputy Prime Minister and PML-Q leader Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi talking to media in Lahore Saturday welcomed SC verdict in Asghar Khan case and said those politician, exposed over receiving money, should be declared ineligible.
Pervaiz Elahi said Asghar Khan case verdict should be implemented like that of NRO.
He said the then army chief Aslam Baig called them (Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi) and offered money to them but they refused to accept it.
Meanwhile, talking to Indian media delegation, Pervaiz Elahi emphasized on dialogue process, saying that Pakistan and India have fought three wars but the issues would be settled through dialogue.
He said dialogues could be held on Kashmir, Siachan and water issues with positive thinking.
