Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said that all three main conspirators according to the Supreme Court (SC) verdict had close relationship with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). On Friday, following the SC verdict, Rasheed stated that Ghulam Ishaq Khan dissolved Nawaz Sharif’s government on October 18, 1993 with the support of Benazir Bhutto and later Asif Ali Zardari was made federal minister in the interim government.
He further stated that PPP government awarded Tamgha-e-Jamhuriat to General Aslam Beg whereas General Asad Durrani was appointed as ambassador. Rashid questioned why these two personalities, who were the conspirators according to the SC verdict, were given these national honours. Rasheed reminded the public that in 1990 when IJI was set up, its founder Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi had become an ally of PPP and supported Benazir Bhutto in her train march. He also conducted the 1990 general elections in which rigging allegations were levelled against Nawaz Sharif government.
