National Assembly Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said his party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was in support of holding next general elections under the aegis of judiciary.
“The 65-year electoral history of Pakistan has remained tainted in the perspective of transparent elections. There is a dire need to hold the upcoming general elections under the judiciary to bring improvement. The PML-N lends full support to this suggestion,” he said while talking to reporters at the Parliament House on Friday.
Nisar said his party had been supporting all such steps aimed at holding elections in a free, fair and transparent manner, and that it had fully participated in the process of preparing and approving the 18th and 20th Amendments.
“An impartial and independent election commission had been constituted in the first phase to ensure transparency in the elections. In the second phase, consultation process is underway to form a non-controversial and neutral caretaker government,” he said. The opposition leader further said that the judiciary had a good experience of holding elections, and that no other institution had the courage to ensure transparency in the polls. He proposed that the Rangers could also be deployed to support police in maintaining law and order during the elections. “If the caretaker government and the election commission deem it wise, then army can also be called in,” he added.

  1. This is tantamount to insulting the Election Commision of Pakistan. He or she should be hauled up for this indiscretion.

  2. Elections should be held under the supervision of Army & Judiciary so that is could be ensured free, fair & transparent elections.

  3. There is nothing like holding elections under Judiciary. They can't manage their own courts, what to talk of holind elections of 200 million people. They neither have the organization not the training for such jobs.
Election Commision will look after this.
Army should keep away from the dirty job.

  4. What is with all these politicians in Pakistan, does anyone have gray hair lol.Is everyone getting free kala kola for lying.
