Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that Islam has no place for violence as it gives message of peace.
He was addressing at the International Conference on ‘Peace through Rule of Law’ in Lahore on Saturday‚ under the aegis of Supreme Court Bar Association.
Peace, he said, is vital to create harmony between institutions, adding associating legal concepts with peace is essential.
He was of the view that respect for national and international laws guarantee peace.
The enforcement of law and the constitution could help restore peace, he added.
The chief justice also condemned the murder of senior lawyer Syed Shakir Ali Rizvi in Lahore on Friday.
He said that the respect of national and international laws ensures peace. He said that restoration of peace is connected to the adherence to the rule of law.
The Chief Justice said that there Islam is a religion which propagates peace and abhor violence and the Holy Quran teaches us in this regard.
