Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday expressed resentment over officers of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for their poor performance when the chief justice onboard a plane was delayed due to technical fault.
According to details, after addressing gathering of bar association lawyers in Lahore, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was on board in PK-303 plane of PIA for leaving Karachi. The plane was delayed from scheduled time, on which the chief justice called the officials in departure lounge of Allama Iqbal International Airport.
All PIA officials appeared before the Chief Justice of Pakistan and told him that due to technical fault the plane was delayed.
The chief justice said that it was not first such experience for him because PIA plane was also delayed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad when he was on board for Lahore.
He told the officers that what would be the treatment with a common passenger by the PIA authorities when a chief justice is facing difficulties here.
The chief justice directed them to improve performance of PIA because it is a national institution and action against responsible people should be taken in this regard.

  1. Nothing wrong in what he said PIA should improve its performance they need to improve as CJ said it represents Pakistan and heads must roll .The top officials are getting huge salaries and they should be taken to task

  2. I firmly believe that the Chief Justice was treated just like any ol' passenger that travels on PIA? I have travelled many times and every time the flight is late for departure from Karachi. It is Pakistan's national airline and when spoken about PIA in England, the airline was classed as a brilliant airline. Unfortunately, the airline has taken a steady decline over the years, with rattling aeroplanes, no blankets, no cushions, and tv's that do not work! Take pride in your Country and in your airline, the CEO charges enough money for an adult ticket, so please use that money and upgrade your planes and its on board facilities… Not just an upgrade of the CEO's bank account or lifestyle.
