Cancellation of CDA’s open spaces allotments urged

Taking notice of the commercial use of the government’s property allotted as open spaces, the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Planning Wing has requested the CDA Chairman, Syed Tahir Shahbaz to cancel the allotments.
According to reliable sources in the CDA, a weighing machine had been installed in a green belt in sector I-10 which was allotted as open space, while a driving school had been opened in sector I-11/4 on the CDA land. Similarly, two wagon stands had been illegally established in Pirwadhai, while many other wagon terminals, workshops and kiosk had also been illegally established on both sides of the IJ Principle Road on the CDA’s right of way land.
The kiosk owners of the federal capital got official allotments of 10×10 feet space but have managed grab two to three kanals land at present.
The illegal grabbing of the federal capital green belts and open spaces was not only marring the beauty of the city but was also creating pollution, the sources said. Thus, the CDA chairman had been urged to cancel the allotment process.
