A suspected robber was killed and two others arrested after an exchange of fire between police and dacoits in Murad Shadiwal area of Samnabad. A police constable was also injured in the incident.
According to details, the skirmish started when four personnel from the Muhafiz Force patrolling the area tried to stop two suspicious motorcycles. The motorcyclists opened fire at the police injuring constable Latif following which the police opened retaliatory fire, killing suspect Imran and eventually arresting two of his accomplices whose identities have not been revealed.
Iqbal Town Superintendent Police (SP) said that all three suspects hailed from Kotlakhpat. Three pistols, bullets and two motorcycles were confiscated from the accused. He further said that the confiscated motorcycles had been involved in numerous reported incidents of robbery and theft. Police filed several cases of robbery and banditry against the suspects.
