Wedding Dress: Actor Kareena Kapoor turned heads at her wedding party with Saif Ali Khan at a Mumbai five-star on Tuesday evening. Looking stunning in a deep burgundy garara, she was seen greeting the guests that included actors Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Anil Kapoor who came with daughter Sonam.
The vows: Getting married to the person you love is certainly a very emotional moment. And for Kareena Kapoor too, the moment was no different. The Kapoor girl couldn’t hide her emotions when she exchanged vows with her longtime beau Saif Ali Khan on 16th October. Kareena looked stunning in Pataudi’s khandaani sharara which was also worn by her mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore when she had wed Mansur Ali Khan. Family and friends had gathered to wish the newly weds a very happy married life and share their happiness. And that was when an overwhelmed Kareena hugged her mother Babita to thank her for all the arrangements.
Mediterranean honeymoon? Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s wedding revelries at the Taj Mahal Hotel stretched well through Tuesday night and into the wee hours of Wednesday morning when the couple finally reached Saif’s place at Fortune Heights in Bandra. The Chote Nawab planned an elaborate lunch for those of the family who missed out on their favourite cuisine. And it didn’t stop there. At the time of going to press, nearly 15 to 20 of the couple’s close friends had been invited to their home for dinner with the food being ordered from one of Saifeena’s favourite eating places in Sobo. Saif and Kareena flew to Pataudi for the Nikaah and Daawat-e-Walima on Thursday. Thereafter, they are taking off to one of the Mediterranean islands for their honeymoon.
Mughal theme for Delhi reception: Antique props have been used for the grand mughal-themed reception for Saif Ali Khan and his new bride Kareena Kapoor in a spacious government bungalow. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, BJP leader Arun Jaitley, former cricketers Kapil Dev and Abbas Ali Baig are among the invitees for the Dawat-e-Walima, being organised by Saif`s mother Sharmila Tagore. “We are decorating the entire place. The theme is off-white and gold with mogra flowers. We have a stage set up inside and it is all going to be in mughal style. We have used antique props, about 200 years old for the decoration,” Tipsy Anand, from event management company Good Earth, told reporters. For the reception, Kareena, 32, wore a pink gharara her designer Manish Malhotra said, while Saif, 42, will don a Raghavendra Rathore creation.
Post-Wedding Activities: Newly-wed couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor will team up for a live performance, their first after their marriage, at the People`s Choice Awards, to be held here Oct 27. “The newly-wed couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor will be performing for the People`s Choice Awards,” Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors, which will telecast the function, told reporters Thursday.
Further more: For those who are tired of seeing her in a traditional bride avatar for the last couple of days, this one is a treat. New bride Kareena Kapoor sizzles in a diva-esque retro avatar in a promotional song from her upcoming film ‘Talaash’. The song- ‘Muskaanein Jhooti Hai’ has been shot for promotional purpose and features all the major characters of the film. Picturised mainly on Kareena, the song is set in a bar where Kareena is seen crooning and serenading the audience which includes Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji. Although, in the film the two leading ladies do not share screen space, but this song features them both. The film will also be Kareena’s first release post marriage and it is being said that Kareena will be introduced as Kareena Kapoor Khan in the film’s credit. news desk

  1. The good thing about the Saif-Kareena wedding is that they did not go over the top with the celebrations.

Both the civil marriage and the Nikah were relatively private family/friend events.
