Financial problems of the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), the biggest research institute of the Ministry of Science and Technology, have worsened as its employees have not received their pay increments since July.
Some employees have not been able to pay their rent for the last three months and their landlords have started sending them eviction notices.
According to sources, around 3,000 employees were working in the council. Due to a slash in its budget and the non-provision of grants, the institution had been gripped by financial hardships and even retired employees of the council had to wait for months to get their pensions.
