Chairman of the Bone Care Trauma Centre and famous Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Parvez Rais Khan said that Osteoporosis caused 1.5 million fractures of the hip, wrist, vertebrae around the World and accounted for 70 percent of all the fractures occurring annually in people over the age of 45.
Dr Parvez Khan said that Osteoporosis caused 20 percent of all hip fractures in women and women were genetically at a higher greater risk of developing Osteoporosis than men because menopause caused rapid erosion of bone layers from the female skeleton due to a decrease in oestrogen production in their bodies. He said a skeleton exposed to low levels of calcium and vitamin D over long periods of time coupled with decreasing levels of testosterone in men and post menopausal phases in women take a toll on bone density. He said that a history of osteoporosis in family and fractures after the age of 40 announce onset of the disease. He said osteoporosis could be prevented if females were taught the health dividends of healthy bones during their teenage years.

  1. In response to the above article on osteoporosis, I firmly believe that exercise and a good diet of oily fish high in omega 3 are very good for you. Vitamin C is converted in the liver into vitamin D3 or the sunshine vitamin as its called. Exposing yourselves to the sun for 10 minutes a day is all your body needs for conversion of vitamin C into vitamin D3 which takes place in the liver. I live in the UK, which has more wintry months than summer and we rejoice at the mere sight of sunshine as we suffer from vitamin D deficiencies on a huge scale…but lack of sunlight is the main causative factor here. In Pakistan it is women's lack of sun exposure as well as lack of exercise (not just walking), but proper moving your hips, touching your toes types of exercise. I adore the heat and the sun in Karachi and wish someone would send me some over here. My aches and pains disappear when I go to Karachi and make a point of sitting in the sun with a sardine sandwich and a glass of pure orange juice!

  2. I never thought that Osteoporosis could create such intense fracture of the hip and wrist vertebrae. Given such effect, time has proven and tested the effectiveness and health benefit of Chiropractor Long Beach. The best way of healing is to go natural!
