Lawyer gunned down near Lahore High Court

A senior lawyer, Syed Shakir Ali Rizvi, was killed near the Lahore High Court (LHC) in a drive-by shooting on Friday.
According to police, four gunmen riding two motorcycles intercepted Rizvi’s car outside his chamber and opened indiscriminate firing.
He was rushed to Ganga Ram Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police termed the shooting as a targeted attack, saying the deceased had several high-profile cases. Police further claimed that he had been receiving death threats over these cases.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) announced boycott of lower courts against Rizvi’s murder.
Security was bolstered around the high court after the firing.
Deploring the murder of the senior lawyer, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed police officials to ensure the speedy arrest of assailants.
