Facebook hunt ‘tracks wife’s rapist’

A husband tracked the man who allegedly raped his wife as a schoolgirl by using Facebook, a court heard. He hunted down Andrew Marsh, 27, by claiming he was organising a surprise party for his wife on the social networking site. He confronted Mr Marsh, a greengrocer, and beat him up before he convinced his wife to report the alleged rape in 2001 to police. Mr Marsh, who is married, was arrested and charged with raping the woman in an alleyway when she was a schoolgirl. The alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told her husband about the alleged rape during a talk about their relationship difficulties, Maidstone Crown Court heard. She told him she had a relationship with Mr Marsh which had ended with him allegedly raping her against a wall. The husband used the social networking site to speak to old friends and track down Mr Marsh. He visited him at his home where he attacked him. “He told me I had to call the police otherwise he would be prosecuted for assault.” Mr Marsh, of Rochester, Kent, denies rape and indecent assault. The trial continues.
