As the Eid-ul-Adha is approaching, the thousands of employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Karachi Development Authority are desperately hoping from their competent authority to settle the issue of their arrears of salaries which remained withheld for couple of months due to constraints of funds being short-released by the Finance Department, Government of Sindh.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government of Pakistan increased salaries of its employees across the board with effect from 1st July 2012 in the recent national budget. All the government employees are enjoying the raise in their salaries announced except for the employees of KMC and KDA. They are unfortunate enough to benefit from the raise as their competent authority did not give raise to its employees in due course of time and decided it after a month from its date of effect in August 2012 to give them raise which has resulted in depriving them of their increase for a month of July 2012 which is still awaited to be released.
I invite attention of the government of Sindh and Muhammed Hussain Syed, Administrator, KMC, to look into the matter so that thousands of employees could either do or take part in qurbani to honour the willingness of Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Ismael as an act of submission to God.
