Violence claims eight more lives

Eight people including a police officer, a political worker and a Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) officer were killed in firing and violence incidents in different areas of Karachi, according to media reports.
According to police, an Assistant Sub- Inspector (ASI) identified as Shafi was shot dead when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate firing in North Nazimabad.
Similarly, local office bearer of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was gunned down near Asghar Ali Stadium in the jurisdiction of the Sharah-e-Noor Jahan Police Station.
Furthermore, four mutilated bodies were found in Machhar Colony, Crown cinema in Lyari and Chakiwara respectively.
Meanwhile, a man injured in firing in New Town area succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital. The deceased was identified as Haji Ali.
KMC Director Education, Shamim Khan was killed when his car was attacked near Hyderabad Colony on Jamshed Road in Karachi East area.
Police put on alert for Eidul Azha: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP), Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari directed to draft a comprehensive security plan for the three days Eid ul Azha.
The IGP instructed that a plan be submitted at the earliest by respective DIG’s so that timely arrangements could be made for ensuring the protection of lives and property of citizens. Leghari directed that in collaboration with intelligence agencies, fool proof security should be provided to mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs, markets and miscellaneous places. He ordered police supervision for the cleaning of places of Eid congregations in the red zone. The IGP ordered the force to fail any attempts of criminal elements to collect hides of sacrificed animals from citizens by force and intimidation. Leghari ensured of increased patrolling, picketing and snap checking across the province.

Crimes branch to investigate Bashir Qureshi’s death: The inquest of the alleged murder of nationalist party’s leader has been handed over to the Crime Branch, Hyderabad, on the orders of Hyderabad Range Deputy Inspector General Police Sanaullah Abbassi.
General Crime Branch Deputy Inspector Farhat Junejo said here on Wednesday that a 4-member team would investigate the case of Bashir Qureshi’s death in the light of an FIR registered at Sakrand police station in Shaheed Benaziarabad on October 3 on the complaint of Qureshi’s brother. The team, he added, is led by SSP Crime Branch Attaullah, DSP Abdullah Unar, Inspector Aftab Abbassi and Inspector Malik Qasim.
The DIG informed that they would file an application with the District and Session Court Shaheed Benaziarabad on October 18 to seek more time for filing the charge sheet. Qureshi breathed his last in Shaheed Benazirabad on April 7.
Police arrest 35 accused in last 24 hours: Karachi Police arrested 35 men during the last 24 hours. Per details those arrested included four proclaimed offenders.
The city witnessed three police encounters against three unrelated groups and police busted all three gangs and recovered 25 pistols, two daggers and mobile phones from their possession. The police have registered cases against all the 35 arrested and their interrogation had been ordered.
Rangers Sindh nab 58
accused: Pakistan Rangers Sindh conducted 14 `targeted raids’ on Tuesday night and arrested 58 alleged criminals from various parts of the metropolis. A source in Rangers told that 15 weapons of varying calibres along with large quantities of ammunition, metal detectors, binoculars and police uniforms were recovered during the raids.
