(PIMA) Karachi chapter appealed to the concerned authorities in the ministry of Health and Local Goverment to ensure healthy percentages of Chlorine in water supplied to the residents of the metropolis to prevent Naegleria Fowleri; the viral infection that cause fatal damage to the central nervous system.
PIMA office bearer Dr Zeeshan Hussain Ansari, took notice of a report released by government authorities stating that 63 water samples collected from main water supply lines of four towns of the city were found to have no traces of chlorine. DR Ansari said that the Naegleria Fowleri could be prevented by diluting water with 2ppm of chlorine. He urged the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to ensure that properly treated water is supplied to the citizens under all circumstances.
