In the fourth of six tournaments of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Golf Tour, that concluded at the Tour Links Golf Club, in Ras el Khaimah, UAE yesterday, M. Munir of Pakistan emerged triumphant through golfing excellence, that enabled him to keep the Pakistani flag flying high for the second successive golf championship. Just a week back Shafiq Masih of Pakistan was the victorious one in the third segment of this golf tour and now in the fourth of six tournaments it is M. Munir who marched past his overseas international rivals to look adequately super and fetch the top prize and accomplish a virtual dream like status at this level. “It certainly was not easy, especially with players of the class of Zane Scotland and David Law, as rivals’, said Munir over the phone. He further went on to say that, “Zane was equally brilliant all the three days but I kept up the pressure through strategic placement of shots and extremely good work on the greens”. And all this is reflected in his scores over the three rounds on 7200 yards, very long, Tower Links Golf Course. A round of six under par 66, on the first day backed up by a three under par 69 on the second day and another 69 in the final go gave him a three rounds aggregate of 204, twelve under par for the championship and he beat the runner up Zane Scotland of England by four strokes.
