Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), an alliance of religious parties, has been formally revived without the inclusion of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), announced JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting of several religious parties here, Rehman said that it was jointly decided by the participants to revive the MMA.
He said MMA has been restored in view of the prevailing country situation.
He explained no discussion took place about the Jamaat-e-Islami in today’s meeting. He, however, added that JI would come under discussion in the next meeting.
To a question, he said that he was neither part of the government nor he had any link with the Taliban.
The JUI-F chief said that he was not against a military operation, adding that resolutions adopted by the Parliament opposed it.
Responding to another question, Rehman said that ground realities were there to delay the general elections.
