Chief Justice also verified his vote by sending his CNIC No. to 8300. he appreciated this tremendous facility extended to general public for confirmation of registration of their votes. On this occasion, Chief Justice said he was immensely pleased to learn that the Election Commission of Pakistan is celebrating the National Voters Day, underlining the importance of a voter in the electoral process.
“No one can deny that voter participation is a key to ensuring credibility of an election. Change of government through votes as per the Constitution, strengthens the democratic process thereby heralding new vistas of peace, happiness and development.
Greater participation of voters in election puts positive pressure on the governing institutions to work for the well being of the people of Pakistan.
Ensuring active participation of voters requires that all eligible persons are on the electoral rolls. Participation of voters is also directly related to creating a conducive environment in and around the polling stations to ensure free and fair elections which is a mandate of the Constitution and shall shape the destiny of the nation, he said.
Activities around the National Voters Day including engagement of the voters to know where their votes are registered and how to logistically and freely reach to polling station, is very important for exercise of this constitutional right, the CJ said.
“I do not hesitate to express that creating awareness amongst voters is a national cause which needs support from all stakeholders. I also see greater role of the Pakistani civil society in this endeavor and I expect their active participation”, the CJ said.

  1. The people convicted and criminals and billions of assets are ruling the country. This is your democracy?

  2. Iftikhar: You are right. Voting strengthens democratic process. But honest judiciary is an integral part of democratic process. With your track record of indulging in dirty politics and corruption to the hilt, democratic process is in grave danger. So, you must quit immediately. Your silence on material presented by Honorable Senator Syed Faisal Raza Abidi is proof of your guilt.
