KESC’s good step

As a concerned citizen of Pakistan I am happy to see that a certain organization in the power sector continues to take their corporate social responsibility seriously by contributing towards the benefit of the needy despite current difficulties.
Recently, I came across a positive piece of information about KESC’s Social Investment Plan (SIP) under which KESC will provide free of cost electricity to leading non-profit organisations in the country.
To this effect, KESC has signed the first memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indus Hospital for bearing 50 percent of their electricity cost, the second with Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC), the third and fourth with Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) and TCF schools, respectively for covering 100 percent of the cost of electricity used by these institutions every month.
More organisations in the country need to reconsider their CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY programmes in a similar fashion and should step forward to help the communities around them.
KESC, which has received the flak, especially during summer months, must be applauded for this initiative which would enable the concerned to divert funds to those who deserve primary healthcare and education in economically challenged times. It is definitely a ray of hope in an otherwise grim scenario.
