In order to make Islamabad a model energy saving city, Secretary Cabinet Division/Water and Power, Nargis Sethi has imposed ban on decoration lights in the federal capital.
The secretary Cabinet Division while chairing a high-level meeting the other day directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other relevant authorities to make efforts to transform Islamabad into model energy conservation city.
She said that the measures have been formulated as per the directions of the president, prime minister and minister for Water & Power, to declare Islamabad as a model city for energy conservation.
Government ceremonies would be organised at day time so as to avoid waste of energy by unnecessary illumination inside and outside buildings, she said, adding that lights in markets should be rationalized both inside and outside the shops.
A committee under the supervision of additional secretary Cabinet Division was also formed to monitor and implement directives in this connection.
