The President of Pakistan has appointed Vice Admiral Muhammmad Shafiq as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff with immediate effect, said a notification issued here Tuesday.
Vice Admiral Muhammmad Shafiq was commissioned in the Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy on 01 June 1977. During his career he has served at various Command and Staff appointments including, 2nd in Command of a Destroyer, Command of Naval Air Wing, Command of Naval Air Arm and Commander Naval Strategic Forces.
His Staff appointments include Fleet Aviation and Navigation officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet, Deputy Director Naval Aviation at Naval Headquarters, Deputy Director Joint Logistics at JSHQ, Director Maritime Affairs at Naval Headquarters, Deputy Director General Maritime Security Agency, Drafting Authority, Directing Staff at NDU, Chief Inspector Navy, DG(M) in ISI and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Administration).
He has undergone a number of professional courses including Specialization in Navigation and Operations, Naval Command & Staff Course from Indonesia and Armed Forces War Course from National Defense University (NDU), Islamabad
Presently he is serving at Naval Headquarters as Chief of Staff. In recognition of his services he has been awarded Hilal-e- Imtiaz (Military).
