Jamaat-e-Islami chief Munawar Hassan has said that a specific group of feudal, landlords and capitalists has continued to keep a tight grip on the country’s governance and that it would be unfortunate if they were elected in the next elections too.
Addressing a group of trainees here at Mansoora, the JI’s headquarters, Munawar Hassan ruled out alliance with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). The JI can have an alliance or seat adjustment with any other party, he added. He said MQM and PPP’s workers would never vote for his party nor JI workers could vote for them. The JI amir said exclusion of even a single party from Muttahida Majlis-e-Ammal (MMA) would yield same results as were seen in 2008 elections when JI had opted out of the religious parties’ alliance.
