25 years after Michael Fish’s infamously incorrect weather forecast, the weatherman sets the record straight in a television advert. Michael Fish’s words of reassurance on the 15th October 1987 forecast have haunted him ever since. “Earlier on today a woman rang the BBC to say she’d heard there was a hurricane on the way,” he began. “Well, if you’re watching, don’t worry there isn’t.” What followed was the worst storm to hit south-east England since 1703 and infamy for the presenter. 25 years after his botched prediction, Mr Fish has been given a chance to correct his forecast in a television appearance sponsored by London fish restaurant Etta.
