Due to lack of vigilance on the part of Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Highway has been without road lights from Koral Chowk to Rawat for the last few years. This is has become a major cause of traffic accidents during the night. Various housing schemes have been developed alongside the Islamabad Highway, including PWD, Pakistan Town, Gulberg, National Police Foundation, Media Town, Korang Town, and Judicial Town which are inhabited by thousands of people. Heavy traffic on the inter-provincial highway faces trouble due to the lack of road lights. These road lights were removed during an expansion project of the Islamabad Highway in 2007, some five years back, but have not been reinstalled so far. Citizens requested the newly appointed Chairman CDA Tahir Shahbaz to take notice of the situation and ensure the installation of road lights on the Islamabad Highway at the earliest.
